This was my project for Film 220: Basic Film I. I wanted to do something that I could only do on film, that would work really well in black and white on 16mm. As you can see, this transfer is a little dark, so you can expect a better one up once the transfer decks are working again. I'm also going to edit this just slightly within the next few months to fix some pacing issues, but I spent so much time working on it in such a short period that I'm going to let it rest for a bit. Enjoy!

For some reason, there doesn't seem to be a 16mm category. Which bothers me. So I suppose this is going under video for now.

There is absolutely nothing that makes me happier than hearing that about this film (and kittens). It took so much work for something that did not turn out quite like I wanted. Thank you.

I don't know if you have any experience with film, but it is totally and completely a labor of love. The amount of work that goes into an actual film (not a video, though those do require an extreme amount of dedication, it's not quite as intense) for the outcome is more than a little slanted, and you don't always get the response you want. My teacher hated this movie, but my classmates loved it. It is quite some validation to hear that my professor was just being a pretentious artist.

I love editing with film, on video it's horrible. Especially if you aren't using Final Cut Pro and have to use Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. I hate iMovie. So. Much.
Thank you, I'm glad my skills are recognized. You should watch my other movies. And like my production studio on facebook.

That's my studio. I normally do documentaries through it. Lots of cool stuff.

That's my artist page, I don't update it as frequently as I should, but there will be stuff about non-doc things.

That's my actual website. I tend to update that more, but it won't be really nice until I actually have more than 17 cents a month to spend on such things.

I like the idea. and the ending. And I haven't seen too many films on ... film, lately! It work really well on film.

The beginning is too long and the long shots are making the whole film a bit boring. But I was so curious how it ends, so I watched all. :aww:

I like the effect with the sun ray when he runs off the bridge (I think it appear a few shot after that, too).

And the last shot is nice... and the length of it is just perfect.

Having no sound and dialog makes it interesting... Don't put too much music or sound effects when you edit the final version ;)

Thank you, I haven't gotten much real feedback on this, I do have to do a small re-edit of this for school by the end of the semester, I'll keep the thing about the long shots in mind. I'll hopefully have a better looking transfer of this up after I do that.
I doubt there will ever be sound or music, I like it the way it is now, though a bit of post-rock-esque soundtrack wouldn't hurt, I suppose.
Because this was a school project, I had to do it according to their deadlines and all sorts of whatnot, the last half I filmed as extra to what they wanted me to do, which is why the shots are shorter and it seems a bit more coherent.
I love working on film. Video is fun and lends itself to certain possibilities that aren't so easily accomplished on film. But film is magic, and I will gladly spend 30 hours in an editing room and another 20 scratching film for a 5 minute piece, rather than 5 hours on my computer for a 10 minute one.
Thank you, again.

Ok, good luck then (at school :aww: )!

Deadlines make you improve, so it's ok, I know what it's like. And good luck with the future projects :aww:
